I Can't Write A Song

Another crumpled up paper
Thrown to the wall
My mind failing to conjure
Any thoughts at all

My pen tapping anxiously
On a blank new page
My feelings ranging from
exasperation to rage

If I could only come by an idea
That would touch someone's heart
Then maybe this pen will get moving
And a decent song will start

My mind is a blank world of white
My guitar looks at me, un-strummed
I don't have words or even a melody
Nothing to be hummed

Too many unfinished thoughts
On too many pieces of paper
Is coming up with something to sing
supposed to be such a labor?

If I could only come by an idea

Then you can never go wrong
How about I begin to write
About how I can't write a song....
